LOOKING FORWARD, LOOKING BACK
I’ve been thinking for a while of winding back the website and using the Facebook page as the main place for The Old Bloke's ramblings. This has already been happening, to some extent, for the past couple of years or so. But things like my Blog entries etc I usually duplicate by posting them on here too. But, for a few reasons, I have decided to make Facebook the place where The Old Bloke exists.
It’s a sign of the times, and the changing landscape of online activities, that things like this mostly have their home on social-media – Facebook in particular. Of course websites are still used, but more for businesses rather than for this type of blog and news, etc. Either that or they are duplicated – as is happening here. I can think of two Facebook pages I’m on which have both a website and a Facebook page (both are blog-type pages), and I must say that I access them both on Facebook; I hardly ever go to the web-sites. And that seems to be the way most people operate these days.
However the website will continue, as a source of reference (at the time of writing - January 2021 - there are around 90 road-tests, just for starters, plus many articles and stories of rides and so on. So they will still be available. And major articles - such as road-tests and stories etc - will be put here. The links to them will be posted on Facebook, but they will actually be here, and accessible from here.
I've written a rather lengthy article about the change. But it also looks back over what inspired me to start the website, and how it grew, the highlights - and lowlights - of testing bikes and products and so on over the past 16 years that the site has been running. So I click on the link below to read that. It will tell you what's happening, but also you might enjoy reading about all those highlights and lowlights.

NOT THE END - JUST A DIFFERENT ROAD
